The founder and Managing Director of Illuminarte
Communications Ltd, a new wave multi- lingual marketing communications
boutique agency established in November 2003, Alison Christie
Binger is the Immediate Past President of the Public
Relations Society of Jamaica (PRSJ).
She is the recipient of several awards including the Society’s
Excellence and Merit awards, the 2001 President’s award
for most outstanding service and the University
of the West Indies (UWI) Dance Society Award for outstanding
service in public relations.
With over 18 years experience in the marketing, communications
and public relations (pr) arenas, she is a member of the International
Association of Business Communicators, (IABC) a Director of
the IABC Caribbean with responsibility for Academics, Accreditation
and Awards and Immediate Past Vice President of Communications
for the entire Caribbean region. She is also a former Director
at large of the IABC’s Canada District 2 region, a responsibility
that covered inter alia members in Newfoundland and the English
Speaking Caribbean territories.
Alison is a member of the UWI Regional Advisory Board to the Caribbean
Institute of Media and Communications (CARIMAC) and CARIMAC’s
IABC Accreditation Board. She is also a Director of the Peer Awards
Foundation and is Chairman of its Public Relations and Advertising
Committee as well as a member of its Executive Committee. In addition
she is a Founding Board Member of COMYA GLOBAL, an international
communications agency network which represents some 11 countries
in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
A Consultant to CARIMAC and a guest lecturer in Public Relations
at that Institution, she is credited with developing the world’s
first structured accreditation programme for communicators through
a tertiary institution (UWI) in conjunction with the IABC and
PRSJ. She is the architect for the UWI’s first Masters in
Business Communication programme to be launched through CARIMAC
in 2006.
Alison holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Languages (French and
German) and Social Sciences (international Relations) from the
University of the West Indies and a Masters in Business Administration
from Nova South
Eastern University with a specialization in International
Business. She is currently completing studies in Spanish on a
scholarship with the Venezuelan Institute of Cultural Cooperation.
She is a twice-elected fellow of the Maastricht
School of Management (MSM) in the Netherlands from which she
gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and Physical Distribution
and Certification in Entrepreneurship and Job Creation in conjunction
with MSM and the Pacific University in Peru.
